Yamaha late 60s / early 70s Classical Guitars

Yamaha’s range of classical guitars in the late 1960s and early 1970s included the G-50A, G-60A, G-85A, G-100A, G-130A and G-170A models. These were well made guitars as you’d expect from Yamaha and most we’ve seen have aged really well and have plenty of life left in them.
Slemer’s catalogue of 1971 described them as such…
“When you select a Yamaha guitar, you select the finest in tone, materials, and quality craftsmanship available in the world. The finish used in the manufacture of all Yamaha guitars is a special mixture of lacquer and polyurethane. This special finish has been developed to eliminate the checking or cracking of the finish and all climatic conditions. The beauty of the woods is used in each Yamaha guitar is further enhanced by this durable finish.”
